Environment

Sustainability is not just a buzzword for Vertilux; it’s an unwavering commitment that runs through every facet of our operations. From sourcing raw materials to the final use of our products in countless applications, we prioritise the safety of people and the environment.

Our reputation for reliability in sustainability isn’t just an accolade; it’s a standard. We adhere to voluntary product stewardship standards and practices that have earned the trust of our employees, customers, industry peers, and health and safety officials. We invest in these practices, conducting life cycle assessments that not only earn us high environmental ratings but also shield our stakeholders from commercial risk and asset obsolescence, ensuring our blind systems are ‘future ready’.

Vertilux regularly reviews its products for potential impact to the environment, health and safety. These reviews help identify adverse effects on human health and the environment from exposure during each stage of the product life cycle.

At Vertilux, sustainability isn’t a choice; it’s a responsibility we embrace every day. Our dedication to a greener, safer, and more sustainable future is unwavering, and it’s woven into the fabric of everything we do.

Product Stewardship

At Vertilux, our commitment to product stewardship goes beyond words; it’s a pledge to responsibly manage product life cycles from inception to end-of-life, ensuring adherence to core stewardship principles every step of the way.

Our focus extends to delivering window coverings and components that are not only safe and compliant but also sustainable and empower our customers to effectively manage light and privacy within their interior spaces.

Since 1995, we’ve been on a journey to reduce our environmental footprint.

Our Waste Not Want Not initiative was introduced back in 2010, when we actively began reducing our environmental impact, regulating supply chain management to reduce waste, engaging recycled packaging suppliers, and recycling reusable packaging from incoming raw materials.

Furthermore, the development of our “Revive” take-back program encourages the responsible management of PVC products. Although PVC is the less desirable and sustainable option when compared to other fabric materials, there are areas in the market where PVC products are suited and demanded.

End of life recycling options, where available are being incorporated where possible and we are continually working with available recycling and post-consumer waste programs to deliver this initiative.

Vertilux has been a trailblazer in promoting sustainability and product stewardship in the window covering industry. As part of this commitment, we introduced the revolutionary Greenvision fabric collection in 2007, marking a significant leap in sustainable window coverings. This collection was a game-changer for commercial clients, offering not only superior solar optical properties and enhanced aesthetics but also inherent fire-retardant properties that exceeded building code standards.

However, our dedication to sustainability didn’t end there. In 2009, we decide to further our pioneering efforts and became the first blind manufacturer in Australia to subject our fabrics to rigorous life cycle assessments, through Global GreenTag’s now internationally recognised product certification scheme. These Certifications align our products with Green Building Standards and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

While Vertilux continues to push the boundaries of sustainability with their GreenTag Certified Fabric Collections, including Greenvision and the newly introduced Ecolight Fabric Series. The Ecolight Fabric Series showcases the latest fabric innovations, incorporating recycled PET, Trevira CS eco and a Polyester hybrid. These fabric collections are a testament to Vertilux’s ongoing commitment to sustainable window coverings and their dedication to a greener, more environmentally conscious future, one window covering at a time.
